| Our History(Tee Bee Queue Limited) TBQ restaurants were founded in Windsor by the Racovitis family and are now owned and operated by both the Racovitis and Stoiantsis families . Founded in 1941 as Tunnel Lunch & Coffee Shop, it was renovated, expanded and changed to Tunnel Bar-B-Q in 1947. After numerous expansions throughout the years, the Tunnel Bar-B-Q Downtown presently seats 200.
In 1972, TBQ purchased the Knotty Pine Restaurant, then renamed to TBQ’s Other Place Restaurant. In response to changing times in the 25 year history, TBQ's Other Place became the standard of restaurant excellence. In 1999 TBQ's Other Place was closed. The proud TBQ tradition was carried over to TBQ's Market Place. In that same tradition, we continue to offer exceptional catering and restaurant fare both in-house and through outside catering. In 1974 they opened a separate facility for TBQ’s Pastry Place now on McDougall Road. In 1976 the Prime Rib Room was opened and it fast became the premium dining room in the city of Windsor. In 1977-1981 Tunnel Bar-B-Q of Canada also operated in Southfleld, Michigan. In 1994 TBQ opened The Market Place on Huron Church Road in Windsor.
In 1996 TBQ opened a kiosk at the City Market. In 1999 they established TBQ's Meal Express - home meal replacement program. TBQ restaurants employ approximately 300 employees. TBQ restaurants serve 75,000 to 80,000 meals monthly.
The proud tradition continues! |
